Appointments

The main surgery opening hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am – 6:30pm.

Following the results of the GP National Survey 2018 and after consultation with the Practice Patient Participation Group, Dr Trzeciak and Partners alongside the introduction of Care Navigation are launching a

NEW APPOINTMENT SYSTEM from January 2019

This includes you having the ability to book

GP and blood appointments up to 6 months in advance.

We aim to offer you appropriate appointments without having to ring back.

We will still have urgent appointments available on a daily basis with doctors.

We are introducing telephone appointments whereby you will be called back by the GP between 11am and 1pm, when examination is not required.

We are also offering some early morning and lunch time appointments to increase access for you.

For an appointment in 2019 please ring in January or book online.

When you ring for an appointment, the receptionist will ask you for medical information, this is to ensure you are booked with the most appropriate person within a certain time if necessary.  If you are not comfortable with this please let the receptionist know.

Please be aware that if you request a specific doctor there may be less chance of an appointment being available, however, we will usually be able to offer an alternative appointment.

The doctors are routinely available for appointments on the following days:

  • Dr Trzeciak:   Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
  • Dr Allen:  Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
  • Dr Mannion:  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
  • Dr Longstaff:  Wednesday and Friday
  • Dr Robertson:  Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
  • Dr Smailes:  Monday, Wednesday (morning only) and Thursday
  • Dr Rawson: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

At times some of the doctors may also work additional days to cover for holidays/study leave of the other doctors, and we also engage additional locum doctors for extra cover when required.

Please note that medically urgent cases will always be seen on the same day.

If a doctor asks to see you again for a further review, you are advised to make this appointment as soon as possible.  Please do not leave it until the last minute to try to book an appointment, as there may not be any pre-bookable appointments left.

Our Nurse Practitioners, Anne Reed and Esme Hadley are highly trained specialist nurses. They have undertaken additional medical education in order to provide advanced nursing care and to prescribe medication.

Nurse practitioners can provide treatment and advice for many problems for which you may have seen a doctor for in the past. Their main areas of expertise are in the management of common illnesses and long term conditions.

The nurse practitioners can assess and examine you, make a diagnosis and provide advice and treatment including a prescription if required. They can make referrals to hospital doctors or other health care professionals and can consult the GP's about your care when necessary.

An appointment with Anne or Esme may be available sooner than seeing one of the GPs. Please consider the following list of symptoms and conditions and consider seeing a Nurse Practitioner.

Saturday Appointments 2018

The Doctors’ Surgery is operating as a hub in the Thirsk area to provide extended opening alternate Saturday mornings from 08:30-12:00 in partnership with the Heartbeat Alliance, through their Better Access programme.

These appointments provide access to GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Physiotherapy and Clinical Pharmacists for minor illness and medication reviews. The clinics are available to patients from all practices in the local area, not just those registered with this practice.

These clinics however will not always be staffed by doctors and nurses from this practice.

These appointments are now available to book,  please contact the Surgery.
