Cervical Screening
Smears for women involve a simple quick test for changes which occur before cancer develops. In most cases these changes can be easily treated in an outpatient clinic and cancer prevented. It is recommended that all women from the age of 25 up to the age of 64 should have regular cervical screening unless advised otherwise by the doctor.
All patients who are eligible for this are invited to attend by letter. Cervical Screening is very important so if you are worried about the test or would like to know more please ask - do not ignore the letter.
